HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 62

A RESOLUTION
To commend John Kay for his sack race victory over Representative Dixon McMakin at the
March 25, 2025, Louisiana State University (LSU) vs. University of Louisiana at
Lafayette (ULL) baseball game at Alex Box Stadium.
WHEREAS, the Legislature of Louisiana takes great pride in acknowledging the
talents, achievements, and competitive spirit of public servants who go above and beyond
in both policy and sport; and
WHEREAS, John Kay, policy director for Governor Jeff Landry, demonstrated not
only strategic brilliance in the realm of governance, but also exceptional agility and athletic
prowess during the sack race at the LSU vs. ULL baseball game on March 25th, 2025, at
Alex Box Stadium; and
WHEREAS, in a dominating performance, Mr. Kay outpaced Representative Dixon
McMakin, showcasing a commendable combination of coordination, determination, and
sheer grit; and
WHEREAS, the crowd roared in approval as Mr. Kay crossed the finish line,
solidifying his place in the annals of gubernatorial staff athletic triumphs; and
WHEREAS, Representative McMakin did his colleagues no favors in the
longstanding debate about the executive branch's superiority over the legislative branch; and
WHEREAS, legislators present for the race were disappointed, yet not surprised, by
Representative McMakin's failures; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kay and Representative McMakin bear a striking resemblance but
are clearly worlds apart in the world of competitive sports.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend John Kay for his victory in the sack race
against Representative Dixon McMakin and does hereby recognize his athletic triumph as
a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence – both on and off the policy field.
