(8/1/25) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 33:1221.3, relative to police jury; to provide relative to the police jury of 3 Sabine Parish; to provide relative to terms and qualifications; to provide relative to 4 limits on term of office; and to provide for related matters. 5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 33:1221.3 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง1221.3. Sabine Parish Police Jury; terms of members 9 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, no person who has 10 been elected to serve as a police juror in Sabine Parish for more than two and 11 one-half terms shall be eligible to serve as a police juror in Sabine Parish for 12 any term thereafter. The limit on the number of terms a member of the police 13 jury in Sabine Parish may serve shall be subject to approval of a majority of the 14 electors voting at an election held for that purpose. Proposed law retains present law but provides that no person who has been elected to serve as a police juror in Sabine Parish for more than two and one-half terms shall be eligible to serve as a police juror for any term thereafter. Proposed law provides that the limit on the number of terms a member of the police jury in Sabine Parish may serve shall be subject to approval of a majority of the electors voting at an election held for that purpose.
