SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 4
BY SENATORS CONNICK AND CARTER AND REPRESENTATIVES COX, GREEN
AND WILDER
COMMENDATIONS. Commends and recognizes Coach Hank Tierney and the Archbishop
Shaw High School football team for winning the Louisiana High School Athletic
Association 2024 Division II Select state championship.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Coach Hank Tierney and the Archbishop Shaw High School football team for
3 their outstanding season and to congratulate them on winning the Louisiana High School
4 Athletic Association 2024 Division II Select state championship.
5 WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Coach Hank Tierney and the Archbishop
6 Shaw High School football team for their outstanding season; and
7 WHEREAS, the Archbishop Shaw High School football team captured the 2024
8 Division II Select state title by defeating E.D. White Catholic High School, 28-25, in the
9 championship match held at the Caesar's Superdome in New Orleans; and
10 WHEREAS, Archbishop Shaw received incredible performances from Jasper Parker,
11 Jacob Washington, and Mason Wilson; the team finished the season with an incredible
12 record of twelve wins and only two losses; and
13 WHEREAS, the victory gives Coach Tierney and the Archbishop Shaw football
14 program their second state title and first since 1987.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
16 commend Coach Hank Tierney and the Archbishop Shaw High School football team on
17 winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2024 Division II Select state
18 championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the players and coaches continue

1 their excellent work and always strive for greatness.
2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
3 Archbishop Shaw High School.
