SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 12

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Asia Cox on being selected "Student of the Year" at
Springfield High School in Livingston Parish.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend and congratulate Asia Cox on being selected the 2024-2025 "Student of the
3 Year", as a graduating senior, at Springfield High School in Livingston Parish.
4 WHEREAS, graduating from high school is an important milestone in a student's life
5 that signifies success in academics and the achievement of one's goals; and
6 WHEREAS, graduating from high school is also one of the most important indicators
7 of future success in life, including employment prospects, income potential, and overall
8 health; and
9 WHEREAS, Asia Cox is set to graduate as an AP Scholar with Honors and as the
10 recipient of the National First-Generation Recognition Program from Springfield High
11 School in May 2025, and it is appropriate to recognize her for all of her accomplishments
12 throughout her high school career; and
13 WHEREAS, beyond her academic achievements, Asia has been a leader in both her
14 school and community; and
15 WHEREAS, during her time at Springfield High School, Asia served as a service
16 member in the Leadership Council, the student representative with "Mind Out Loud", a
17 mental health advocacy program, and as Lead Programmer with VEX Robotics; and
18 WHEREAS, she has also been a member of the BETA, Debate, French, and STEM

1 Clubs, played in the band, and participated in track and field; and
2 WHEREAS, in addition to her extracurricular activities, and her duties at Springfield
3 High School, Asia has worked diligently to prepare herself for college and plans to study
4 computation and cognition (computer science and psychology), and aspires to become a
5 software engineer; and
6 WHEREAS, Asia Cox exemplifies the very best of students in the Class of 2025 and
7 her future holds incredible promise; and
8 WHEREAS, through her academic achievements and her community involvement,
9 Asia has formed a solid foundation upon which her future successes can be built, and it is
10 only fitting to acknowledge the accomplishment of Asia Cox upon being selected "Student
11 of the Year" at Springfield High School in Livingston Parish.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend and congratulate Asia Cox on being selected the 2024-2025 "Student
14 of the Year" at Springfield High School in Livingston Parish.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Asia
16 Cox.
