SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 27
BY SENATOR WOMACK 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Louisiana State University of Alexandria on its contributions to central
Louisiana and the state.
WHEREAS, Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) is an integral part of
the LSU System, providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable education to students
across central Louisiana and beyond; and
WHEREAS, LSUA set an ambitious enrollment goal of five thousand students by
the year 2025 and has now exceeded seven thousand one hundred students, making it the
fastest-growing university in the state; and
WHEREAS, LSUA has achieved record enrollment in recent years and expanded its
academic offerings to include over seventy-five degree programs spanning healthcare,
business, education, aviation and the sciences; and
WHEREAS, LSUA now boasts the fifth largest undergraduate enrollment among all
universities in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, LSUA has been recognized by Niche as the fourth best university in the
state; and
WHEREAS, LSUA plays a critical role in workforce development, with specialized
programs in nursing, allied health, teacher education, and business that align directly with
the needs of the region's employers and industries; and
WHEREAS, LSUA's nursing program is among the top in the state, producing
graduates who consistently achieve high licensure pass rates and fill essential healthcare
roles throughout rural and underserved areas; and
WHEREAS, LSUA also contributes to the cultural and civic vitality of the region
through service-learning, volunteerism, and public programs that engage residents in lifelong
learning, health, and wellness; and

WHEREAS, LSUA's athletic achievements have brought pride to the university, as
exemplified by LSUA basketball player, Kashie Natt, being named National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Player of the Year, and a record-setting conference high
average athlete GPA of 3.3; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana benefit greatly from the state's investment in
LSUA, which yields substantial returns in educational attainment, workforce preparedness,
and community enrichment.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Louisiana State University of Alexandria on its contributions, and
extends sincerest wishes that the university and its students continue to prosper in all of their
endeavors.
