2626 An Act relative to a tuition and fee freeze at all public colleges and universities.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. For the purposes of this act, the following words shall, unless the context
3030 2clearly requires otherwise, have the following meanings:
3131 3 “Academic year”, a 12-month period of time beginning with the fall instructional term of
3232 4a public institution of higher education.
3333 5 “Public institution of higher education”, any institution included in section 5 of chapter
3434 615A of the General Laws.
3535 7 SECTION 2. No public institution of higher education shall increase its tuition or fees
3636 8above the level of its tuition and fees for the academic year 2022–2023.
3737 9 SECTION 3. Section 2 shall take effect on the first day of a public institution of higher
3838 10education’s 2023–2024 academic year.
3939 11 SECTION 4. Section 2 is hereby repealed. 2 of 2
4040 12 SECTION 5. Section 4 shall take effect on the last day of a public institution of higher
4141 13education’s 2027 –2028 academic year.
