| 29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, every senior |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 2housing facility newly-constructed after the effective date of this act shall be required to be |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 3equipped with emergency backup electric generators prior to the issuance of any occupancy |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 4permit by a city or town. For the purposes of this act, the term "senior housing facility" shall be |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 5defined as any residential property with four or more dwelling units that is specifically intended |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 6to serve as the primary residence for persons aged 55 years and older, and shall include but not |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 7be limited to supportive housing, shared living in congregate settings, and continuing care |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 8communities. |
