2828 An Act relative to emergency backup power in newly-constructed senior housing facilities.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, every senior
3232 2housing facility newly-constructed after the effective date of this act shall be required to be
3333 3equipped with emergency backup electric generators prior to the issuance of any occupancy
3434 4permit by a city or town. For the purposes of this act, the term "senior housing facility" shall be
3535 5defined as any residential property with four or more dwelling units that is specifically intended
3636 6to serve as the primary residence for persons aged 55 years and older, and shall include but not
3737 7be limited to supportive housing, shared living in congregate settings, and continuing care
3838 8communities.
