[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE HOUSE, NO. 1496 OF 2021-2022.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to personal information. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 41 of the General Laws, as so appearing in the 2014 Official 2Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following new section:- 3 Section 98H. No person, business, or association shall publicly post or publicly display 4on the internet or make publicly available in any manner the personal information of any police 5officer, said police officer’s residing spouse or said police officer’s child without the consent of 6said police officer. Personal information shall mean a home address, home telephone number, 7personal mobile telephone number, pager number, personal email address, personal photographs, 8or information on the personal vehicle registered to said individual. A violation of this section 9shall be punishable by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars or by imprisonment in a 2 of 2 10house of corrections for not more than two and one-half years, or by both such fine and 11imprisonment.
