| 29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 129D of chapter 127 of the General Laws is hereby amended by |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 2inserting after the word “Prisoners” in line 1 “,including persons held in pre-trial detention,”. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 3 SECTION 2. Section 129(D) of chapter 127 of the General Laws is further amended by |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 4inserting after paragraph (f) the following new paragraph: |

| 35 | 35 | | 5 (g) “Deductions from sentences and completion credits earned by persons held in pre-trial |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 6detention will accumulate during the period of detention, but will only be available to the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 7prisoner once they are sentenced. These accumulated good conduct deductions will expire upon |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 8the prisoner’s final release from custody related to the charges that led to the detention. |

| 39 | 39 | | 9Accumulated but un-credited good conduct deductions shall not be available for application |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 10against future incarcerations.” |
