2727 An Act authorizing application of good conduct sentence deductions for completion credits
2828 earned during pre-trial detention.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Section 129D of chapter 127 of the General Laws is hereby amended by
3232 2inserting after the word “Prisoners” in line 1 “,including persons held in pre-trial detention,”.
3333 3 SECTION 2. Section 129(D) of chapter 127 of the General Laws is further amended by
3434 4inserting after paragraph (f) the following new paragraph:
3535 5 (g) “Deductions from sentences and completion credits earned by persons held in pre-trial
3636 6detention will accumulate during the period of detention, but will only be available to the
3737 7prisoner once they are sentenced. These accumulated good conduct deductions will expire upon
3838 8the prisoner’s final release from custody related to the charges that led to the detention.
3939 9Accumulated but un-credited good conduct deductions shall not be available for application
4040 10against future incarcerations.”
