Haggerty (by vote of the town) relative to the board of health in the town of Reading. Municipalities and Regional Government. [Local Approval Received.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to the Board of Health in the town of Reading. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Article 4.4 of the town of Reading home rule charter is hereby amended by 2striking out the first paragraph and inserting, in place thereof, the following: 3 There shall be a Board of Health consisting of five (5) members appointed by the Board 4of Selectmen for three (3) year terms so arranged that at least one (1) term shall expire each year. 5 SECTION 2. Within 30 days of passage of this act, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint 6two individuals to the Board of Health in accordance with Article 4.4 of the Charter and Section 71 of this act, provided, however, that one (1) member shall have an initial term of two (2) years. 8After that initial two (2) year term, all terms shall be for three (3) years. 9 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
