30	30	An Act relative to establishing the Eastham community fund in the town of Eastham.
31	31	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
32	32	of the same, as follows:
33	33	1 SECTION 1. The town of Eastham is hereby authorized to establish a fund known as the
34	34	2Eastham Community Fund (the Fund) for the purposes of providing human service support,
35	35	3emergency financial assistance, and for the general well-being of its residents; and, for the
36	36	4beautification and general support of programs and projects benefiting the community. Such
37	37	5fund will operate consistent with the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A concerning the
38	38	6acceptance and expenditure of grants and gifts; and provide the ability for the town to
39	39	7appropriate monies to the Fund as authorized by town meeting.
40	40	8 SECTION 2. Any costs incurred under the provisions of this section may be funded by
41	41	9an appropriation to the fund as duly authorized by town meeting, gifts, or grants that have been 2 of 2
42	42	10provided to the Fund. Any such appropriation by the town to the fund shall not be included for
43	43	11the purpose of computation of the levy otherwise imposed upon the town by the general laws.
44	44	12Expenditure from the Fund may be made without further appropriation.
45	45	13 SECTION 3. The Board of Selectmen shall appoint a committee known as the Eastham
46	46	14Community Fund Committee consisting of up to seven (7) members, to establish the policies and
47	47	15programs of the Eastham Community fund, as approved by the Board of Selectmen. The
48	48	16Committee shall make grants to individuals and community organizations consistent with the
49	49	17policies and programs approved by the Board of Selectmen from time to time.
50	50	18 SECTION 4. The Board of Selectmen may enact regulations to carry out the Fund’s
51	51	19programs as it determines necessary that are within the general scope and intent of the Act.
52	52	20 SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
