2828 An Act relative to food labeling.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any special or general law to the contrary, the Department
3232 2of Public Health shall implement a food labeling program for commercially caught, landed and
3333 3sold saltwater fish including but not limited to tuna, mackerel, swordfish, grouper, striped bass
3434 4and bluefish. The label shall provide the consumer with information concerning the safety and
3535 5the risk factors of consumption of the fish based on toxin levels in the fish and their hazards to
3636 6human health, in particular the health of young children, women of child-bearing age and
3737 7pregnant women.
