29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |
---|
31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION XXX. Emergency Medical Services. Notwithstanding the provisions of any |
---|
32 | 32 | | 2regulation, rule or law to the contrary, any not for profit acute care hospital system or service, or |
---|
33 | 33 | | 3provider licensed under Chapter 111 of the General Laws, shall comply with Chapter 111C, |
---|
34 | 34 | | 4Chapter 154 of the Acts of 2003 and Chapter 54 of the Acts of 2000, respectively, in order to |
---|
35 | 35 | | 5administer and operate an emergency or non-emergent medical transport service, so-called, in the |
---|
36 | 36 | | 6Commonwealth; provided, that if any such not for profit hospital system or service that is |
---|
37 | 37 | | 7licensed under Chapter 111 of the General Laws is awarded a 911 contract, so-called, by a |
---|
38 | 38 | | 8municipality, such not for profit hospital system or service shall contribute a minimum of 33% of |
---|
39 | 39 | | 9the gross ambulance receipts toward the cost of such municipality’s fire based service for the |
---|
40 | 40 | | 10purposes of enhancing such city or town’s public safety infrastructure and fire based services; 2 of 2 |
---|
41 | 41 | | 11provided further, that if a not for profit hospital system or service licensed under Chapter 111 of |
---|
42 | 42 | | 12the General Laws is awarded a 911 contract, so-called, by a municipality, not for profit hospital |
---|
43 | 43 | | 13system or service shall pay no less than 50% of the cost to operate the Public Safety Answering |
---|
44 | 44 | | 14Point (PSAP), so-called, in order to support the dispatching of 911 services in such municipality; |
---|
45 | 45 | | 15provided further, that any acute care hospital operating an emergency or non-emergent medical |
---|
46 | 46 | | 16transport service prior to this law shall comply with the provisions of this act. The Department of |
---|
47 | 47 | | 17Public Health shall promulgate regulations to administer the provisions of this section not later |
---|
48 | 48 | | 18than 30 days after the enactment of this law. |
