An Act regarding professional licensure.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Chapter 147 is amended in Section 1 by striking the section in its entirety and inserting in 
2place
3 thereof the following section:
4 Section 1. (a) The commissioner of occupational licensure shall supervise the work of the
5 several boards of registration and examination included in the division of occupational
6 licensure. He shall recommend changes in the methods of conducting examinations and
7 transacting business and shall make such reports to the governor and council as they may
8 require or as the commissioner may deem expedient.
9 (b) The commissioner may consider requests to eliminate, reduce, or otherwise diminish
10 standards or requirements for professional licensure of individuals, businesses, or trades; 2 of 2
11 provided, however that the commissioner shall not have the authority to grant said 
12requests
13 without approval by majority vote of the board of registration that oversees the trade or
14 profession said request affects.
