2626 An Act relative to creditable service for MBTA police officers.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Paragraph (g) of clause (2) of section 3 of chapter 32, as appearing in the 2020 Official
3030 2Edition, is hereby amended, in line 248, by inserting the following:-
3131 3 Any member of the Massachusetts State Police or of a local municipal police department,
3232 4who has previous public safety experience as a member of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation
3333 5Authority police department, shall be eligible to count creditable years of service in the
3434 6Commonwealth to the local or state retirement system; provided that said police officer shall be
3535 7required to pay into the annuity savings fund of the retirement system in one sum, or in
3636 8installments, upon conditions as the retirement board or authority shall prescribe, an amount
3737 9equal to the accumulated regular deductions otherwise payable by the officer had they been an
3838 10active member in the Massachusetts State Police or local police department at the time of the
3939 11aforesaid employment, together with regular interest thereon up to his first day of employment in
4040 12a local police department or in the Massachusetts State Police.
