2626 An Act relative to licensure of equine dentists.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 54A of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014
3030 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the fourth paragraph the following
3131 3paragraph:- “Equine dental practitioner”, a person who is a veterinarian or who is certified by the
3232 4international association of equine dentistry.
3333 5 SECTION 2. Chapter 112 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the
3434 6following new section:-
3535 7 Section 54B. Applications for registrations as equine dental practitioners, signed and
3636 8sworn to by the applicant, shall be made upon blanks furnished by the board. Each application
3737 9who shall furnish the board with satisfactory proof that he/she is eighteen years of age or over, of
3838 10good moral character, and is certified by the international association of equine dentistry shall,
3939 11upon payment of a fee to be determined annually by the commissioner of administration under
4040 12the provisions of section 3B of chapter, be examined and, if found qualified by the board, shall 2 of 2
4141 13be registered as an equine dental practitioner and shall receive a certificate thereof, signed by the
4242 14chairman and secretary. The board may refuse to grant a license to any person who shall have
4343 15been convicted of a felony or who may be deemed unfit and after due notice and hearing may
4444 16revoke any certificate issued by it and cancel the registration of any equine dental practitioner.
4545 17 Every registered equine dental practitioner shall annually, before March 1st, pay to the
4646 18board a license fee to be determined annually by the commissioner of administration under the
4747 19provisions of section 3B of chapter 7, in default of which the board may revoke his license and
4848 20his authority to practice the floating of teeth. An equine dental practitioner seeking license
4949 21renewal shall present evidence satisfactory to the board of the successful completion of such
5050 22continuing education as the board shall require by regulation.
