2727 An Act ensuring transparent ticket pricing.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Chapter 140 of the General Laws is amended by adding after section 182A the following
3131 2new section:
3232 3 Section 182B. Every licensed operator or operator's agent of a place of entertainment,
3333 4any licensee or other ticket reseller, or platform that facilitates the sale or resale of tickets for
3434 5admission or other evidence of right of entry to any theatrical exhibition, public show or public
3535 6amusement or exhibition required to be licensed by sections one hundred eighty-one and one
3636 7hundred eighty-two to which a price is charged shall disclose the total cost of the ticket, inclusive
3737 8of all ancillary fees that must be paid in order to purchase the ticket, and disclose in a clear and
3838 9conspicuous manner the total price of the ticket and the portion of the ticket price stated in
3939 10dollars that represents a service charge, or any other fee or surcharge to the purchaser. Such
4040 11disclosure of the total cost and fees shall be displayed in the ticket listing prior to the ticket being
4141 12selected for purchase. Disclosures of subtotals, fees, charges, and any other component of the 2 of 2
4242 13total price shall not be false or misleading, and must be presented in the same size as the total
4343 14price. The price of the ticket shall not increase during the purchase process, excluding reasonable
4444 15fees for the delivery of non-electronic tickets based on the delivery method selected by the
4545 16purchaser, which shall be disclosed prior to accepting payment therefor.
