2525 An Act relative to state police pensions.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 Section 26 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking paragraph
2929 2(c) and inserting the following:
3030 3 (c) Upon retirement under the provisions of this subdivision, a member shall receive a
3131 4retirement allowance to become effective on the date of the member’s retirement. Payments
3232 5under such retirement allowance shall be made as provided for in sections twelve and thirteen
3333 6and the normal yearly amount thereof shall be equal to sixty percent of the average annual rate of
3434 7the member’s regular compensation during the twelve-month period of his creditable service
3535 8immediately preceding the date the member’s retirement allowance becomes effective; provided
3636 9further that the total amount of the allowance shall be increased by one-twelfth of three percent
3737 10for each full month of service in excess of twenty years of service and prior to the last day of the
3838 11month in which such member will reach the age of fifty-five; provided, further, that such
3939 12retirement allowance shall in no case exceed seventy-five percent of such regular compensation;
4040 13and provided, further, that if a member shall reach the member’s fifty-fifth birthday and shall not 2 of 2
4141 14have completed such twenty years of service, the amount of his retirement allowance shall be
4242 15calculated by subtracting from such normal yearly amount one-twelfth of three percent for each
4343 16full month of service that the member’s service is less than twenty years. Any member retired
4444 17under the provision of this subdivision who is a veteran as defined in section one shall receive an
4545 18additional yearly retirement allowance of fifteen dollars for each year of creditable service or
4646 19fraction thereof; provided, that the total amount of said additional retirement allowance shall not
4747 20exceed three hundred dollars in any case.
