| 26 | 26 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of the same, as follows: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 1 Section 26 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking paragraph |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 2(c) and inserting the following: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 3 (c) Upon retirement under the provisions of this subdivision, a member shall receive a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 4retirement allowance to become effective on the date of the member’s retirement. Payments |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 5under such retirement allowance shall be made as provided for in sections twelve and thirteen |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 6and the normal yearly amount thereof shall be equal to sixty percent of the average annual rate of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 7the member’s regular compensation during the twelve-month period of his creditable service |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 8immediately preceding the date the member’s retirement allowance becomes effective; provided |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 9further that the total amount of the allowance shall be increased by one-twelfth of three percent |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 10for each full month of service in excess of twenty years of service and prior to the last day of the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 11month in which such member will reach the age of fifty-five; provided, further, that such |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 12retirement allowance shall in no case exceed seventy-five percent of such regular compensation; |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 13and provided, further, that if a member shall reach the member’s fifty-fifth birthday and shall not 2 of 2 |

| 41 | 41 | | 14have completed such twenty years of service, the amount of his retirement allowance shall be |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | 15calculated by subtracting from such normal yearly amount one-twelfth of three percent for each |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | 16full month of service that the member’s service is less than twenty years. Any member retired |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | 17under the provision of this subdivision who is a veteran as defined in section one shall receive an |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | 18additional yearly retirement allowance of fifteen dollars for each year of creditable service or |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | 19fraction thereof; provided, that the total amount of said additional retirement allowance shall not |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | 20exceed three hundred dollars in any case. |
