An Act relative to police and fire department hiring lists.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 Notwithstanding chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to 
2the contrary, in any city or town implementing a minority preference for police and fire 
3department hiring, Asian applicants shall be considered minority applicants and shall be treated 
4the same as other minority applicants under the city or town’s minority preference, until the 
5percentage of Asian police officers and firefighters in relation to the total number of police 
6officers and firefighters, reasonably reflects the percentage of Asian residents of the city or town.
