2525 An Act expanding the senior property tax exemption.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 59, Section 5, subsection 41C is hereby amended by striking out
2929 2the words:
3030 3 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3131 4meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3232 5requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the
3333 6amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent;” and
3434 7replacing with the following new text:
3535 8 “A city, by vote of its council and approval of its mayor, or a town, by vote of town
3636 9meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in these provisions by: 1) reducing the
3737 10requisite age of eligibility to any person age 65 years or older; 2) increasing either or both of the
3838 11amounts contained in the first sentence of this clause, by not more than 100 per cent, or
3939 12increasing the $500 exemption in the first sentence up to $2,000;”
