2626 An Act relative to vehicle registration fees and sales tax for disabled veterans.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 6 of chapter 64H of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020
3030 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (u) and inserting in place thereof
3131 3the following paragraph:-
3232 4 (u) Sale of a motor vehicle purchased by and for the use of a person who has suffered
3333 5loss, or permanent loss of use of, both legs or both arms or one leg and one arm or by and for the
3434 6use of a veteran who has been determined to be permanently disabled by the medical advisory
3535 7board established under section 8C of chapter 90 and has been issued a disabled veteran number
3636 8plate or the special parking identification placard for handicapped individuals authorized under
3737 9section 2 of said chapter 90. This exemption shall apply to one motor vehicle only owned and
3838 10registered for the personal, noncommercial use of such person. 2 of 2
3939 11 SECTION 2. Section 33 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby
4040 12amended by striking out subdivision (29) and inserting in place thereof the following
4141 13subdivision:-
4242 14 (29) No fee shall be exacted for the registration of any vehicle owned by a veteran who is
4343 15entitled to display thereon the distinctive number plates for disabled veterans or the special
4444 16parking identification placard for handicapped individuals authorized by section 2. No fee shall
4545 17be exacted for the issuance to such veterans of a license to operate such vehicle.
