2727 An Act relative to the veteran property tax exemption.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 59 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018
3131 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 609, the words “two thousand
3232 3dollars” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- five thousand dollars; and is further
3333 4amended by striking out, in line 610, the figure “$400” and inserting in place thereof the
3434 5following figure:- $500.
3535 6 SECTION 2. Section 5 of said chapter 59 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is further
3636 7amended by striking out, in line 644, the words “two thousand dollars” and inserting in place
3737 8thereof the following words:- five thousand dollars; and is further amended by striking out, in
3838 9line 645, the figure “$400” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- $500. 2 of 3
3939 10 SECTION 3. Section 5 of said chapter 59, as so appearing, is further amended by
4040 11inserting, in line 675, after the word “balance,” the following words:- up to three thousand
4141 12dollars of exemption or; and is further amended by striking out, in line 675, the figure “$225”
4242 13and inserting in place thereof the following words:- $325, whichever basis is applicable.
4343 14 SECTION 4. Section 5 of said chapter 59, as so appearing, is further amended by striking
4444 15out, in line 696, the words “four thousand dollars” and inserting in place thereof the following
4545 16words:- seven thousand dollars; and is further amended by striking out, in lines 697 and 703, the
4646 17figure “$750” and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following figure:- $1,000.
4747 18 SECTION 5. Section 5 of said chapter 59, as so appearing is further amended by striking
4848 19out, in line 723, the words “two thousand dollars” and inserting in place thereof, in each instance,
4949 20the following words:- five thousand dollars; and is further amended by striking out in line 724,

5151 22 SECTION 6. Section 5 of chapter 59, as so appearing, is further amended by striking out,

7373 44 SECTION 11. Section 5 of said chapter 59, as so appearing, is further amended by

7575 46thereof the following words:- six thousand dollars; and is further amended by striking out, in line
7676 47877, the figure “$825” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- $1,075.
7777 48 SECTION 12. The exemption amount pursuant to clause Twenty-second, Twenty-second
7878 49A, Twenty-second B, Twenty-second C, and Twenty-second E shall increase in relation to the
7979 50percentage change in the most recent annual consumer price index calculated by the Bureau of
8080 51Labor Statistics of the United States Department of Labor for the northeast region for all urban
8181 52consumers and any increase in amount shall be borne by the commonwealth.
