| 31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 1 of Chapter 174 of the Acts of 2022 is hereby amended by |

| 32 | 32 | | 2inserting after the word “benefits” the second time it appears the following: - |

| 33 | 33 | | 3 “When developing such portal, said agencies shall ensure that individuals and households |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 4who apply and receive fuel assistance through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance |

| 35 | 35 | | 5Program will be automatically re-enrolled for such benefits for the following heating season, so |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 6long as such persons or households continue to meet the federal and state eligibility |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 7requirements, as determined by the Department of Housing and Community Development. For |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 8the purposes of this section, the term “heating season” shall mean the period between November |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 91 and April 30 of each year, unless otherwise designated by the Department of Housing and |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 10Community Development.” |
