| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 29 | 29 | | 1 Section 115A of Chapter 164 of the general laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2adding, in the first paragraph after the words "in accordance with law", the following:-; provided |

| 31 | 31 | | 3however, that a gas company or municipal lighting plant may petition the department for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4approval of an alternate gas meter replacement plan and the department may approve such an |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5alternate gas meter replacement plan and the department may approve such an alternate plan |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6upon a determination that the plan is consistent with the public interest. |
