2828 An Act relative to electric vehicles in high occupancy lanes.
2929 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3030 of the same, as follows:
3131 1 SECTION 19, chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after
3232 2section 19L the following:-
3333 3 Section 1. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any motor
3434 4vehicle designated as a battery electric vehicle (BEV), also known as an electric car, by the U. S.
3535 5Environmental Protection Agency or National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, shall
3636 6be authorized for travel on lanes designated for use by high-occupancy vehicles.
3737 7 (b) The secretary of transportation shall issue those regulations it considers necessary or
3838 8appropriate to implement this act.
