2929 An Act relative to interstate highway noise abatement in certain cities and towns.
3030 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3131 of the same, as follows:
3232 1 Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts
3333 2Department of Transportation shall conduct a comprehensive noise study along interstate
3434 3highways in the towns of Bedford, Burlington, and the city of Woburn to determine the ambient
3535 4noise level generated by traffic and the traffic-related noise impact on surrounding areas. The
3636 5department shall make recommendations for noise abatement methods, including but not limited
3737 6to a highway noise barrier. The comprehensive noise study shall be conducted by an acoustical
3838 7engineer employed by or on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The
3939 8results of the study and the department recommendations shall be filed with the chairs of the
4040 9joint committee on transportation and the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate on
4141 10or before June 1, 2024.
