[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE HOUSE, NO. 4617 OF 2021-2022.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to electric vehicle charging stations. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. Section 16 of chapter 25A of the General Laws, is hereby amended by 2inserting after the word “membership”, in line 39, the following words:- “Any person who parks 3a vehicle that is not compatible with an electronic charging station in a publicly available parking 4spot equipped with an electronic charging station, shall be subject to a fine of $50 for a first 5offense and $100 for a second or subsequent offense.” 6 SECTION 2. Said chapter 25A is hereby amended by inserting after sub-section 16F the 7following section:- 8 “Sub-Section 16G. The Department of Transportation (DOT) shall have the authority to 9lease parcels of land for the purpose of instituting electric vehicle charging stations adjacent to 10state highways and interstates. Parcels of land shall include, but are not limited to, safety rest 2 of 2 11areas, inspection stations, or referee stations, as defined in chapter 90 and chapter 93D of the 12General Laws.” 13 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
