2626 An Act establishing a special commission on public waterway transportation.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 Chapter 6C of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-
3030 2 Section 79. There is hereby established a commission on the future of public waterway
3131 3transportation to determine the feasibility and plan for the expansion of public waterway
3232 4transportation in the greater Boston area.
3333 5 The commission shall have 1 member who is a representative of the department and 8
3434 6members appointed by the governor, 1 of whom shall be a resident of the city of Boston, 1 of
3535 7whom shall be a resident of the city of Quincy, 1 of whom shall be a resident of the city known
3636 8as the town of Weymouth, 1 of whom shall be a resident of the city of Lynn, 1 of whom shall be
3737 9a resident of the city of Revere, 1 of whom shall be a resident of the city known as the town of
3838 10Winthrop, 1 of whom shall be a resident of the town of Hingham and 1 of whom shall be a
3939 11resident of the town of Hull. 2 of 2
4040 12 The special commission may conduct public hearings, forums or meetings to gather
4141 13information regarding the expansion of public waterway transportation in the greater Boston
4242 14area.
4343 15 Annually, on or before June 30, the commission shall submit a report to the governor and
4444 16the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate who shall forward the same to the joint
4545 17committee on transportation, along with recommendations, if any, together with drafts of
4646 18legislation necessary to carry those recommendations into effect. The special commission may
4747 19file such interim reports and recommendations as it considers appropriate.
