| 27 | 27 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 28 | 28 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 29 | 29 | | 1 Chapter 81 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:- |

| 30 | 30 | | 2 Section 33. (a) The division of highways shall establish a highway wildflower program to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 3promote the establishment and flowering of native flowering plants and pollinator habitats on |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4land bordering state highways. The division, in consultation with the department of agricultural |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5resources, shall identify locations where the planting and mowing of grass can be safely replaced |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6by the cultivation of native flowering plants. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7 (b) The division shall promulgate regulations to carry out the purposes of this section. |
