| 32 | 32 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 33 | 33 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 34 | 34 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, all future |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 2members of the police department of the town of Great Barrington shall be exempt from chapter |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 331 of the General Laws. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 4 SECTION 2. This act shall not impair the civil service status of a person holding a |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 5position described in section 1 on the effective date of this act. |

| 39 | 39 | | 6 SECTION 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 2, no appointments or |

| 40 | 40 | | 7promotions made after the effective date of this act will be governed in any way by chapter 31 of |
