House, No. 3951) of Smitty Pignatelli and Paul W. Mark (by vote of the town) that the town of 
Richmond be authorized to continue the employment of Steven Traver as fire chief. Public

An Act authorizing the town of Richmond to continue the employment of Steven Traver as fire 
chief.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Steven Traver, 
2chief of the fire department of the town of Richmond, may continue to serve in his position, 
3subject to approval by the select board of the town of Richmond, until June 30, 2025, the date of 
4his retirement or until the select board votes not to reappoint him to this position, whichever 
5occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the 
6duties of his position. The select board may require that Steven Traver be examined by an 
7impartial physician designated by the select board to determine his mental and physical 
8capability. Deductions shall continue to be made from the regular compensation of Steven Traver 
9under chapter 32 of the General Laws, while he is employed as chief of the fire department of the 
10town of Richmond in accordance with all applicable laws.
11 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
