An Act to authorize the Wrentham Board of Selectmen to remove certain positions of the town 
of Wrentham Fire Department from the requirements of M.G.L. Ch. 31.

By Representative Vaughn of Wrentham and Senator Rausch, a joint petition (accompanied by 
bill, House, No. 4059) of Marcus S. Vaughn and Rebecca L. Rausch (by vote of the town) that 
the town of Wrentham be authorized to remove certain positions of the fire department of said 
town from the civil service law. Public Service. [Local Approval Received.]

An Act to authorize the Wrentham Board of Selectmen to remove certain positions of the town 
of Wrentham Fire Department from the requirements of M.G.L. Ch. 31.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1: Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, within the town 
2of Wrentham, the positions of regular and permanent 	members of the fire department, persons 
3holding the titles of fulltime firefighter, captain, and deputy fire chief of the fire department, of 
4the town of Wrentham shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws ("Civil service law).
5 SECTION 2: Section 1 of this act shall not impair the civil service status of any person 
6holding the positions of regular and permanent members of the fire department, persons holding 
7the titles of full-time firefighter, captain, and deputy fire chief of the fire department, of the town 
8of Wrentham on the effective date of this act.
9 SECTION 3: Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Wrentham 
10Board of Selectmen are further authorized to take any and all other action necessary or advisable 
11to remove the positions of regular and permanent members of the fire department, persons  2 of 2
12holding the titles of full-time firefighter, captain, and deputy fire chief of the fire department, in 
13the town of Wrentham from the requirements of the Civil service law.
14 SECTION 4: That the General Court may make clerical or editorial changes of form only 
15to the bill, unless the Board of Selectmen approve amendments to the bill before enactment by 
16the General Court, and provided further that the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized to 
17approve amendments which shall be within the scope of the general public objectives of this 
18petition.
19 SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
