An Act to strategically plan for the commercial fishing industry.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority 
of the same, as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Section 16G of Chapter 6A of the General Laws is hereby amended by 
2inserting after subsection (l) the following subsection:
3 Subsection (m): The Secretary of Housing and Economic Development shall prepare 
4annually a strategic report in conjunction with the Secretary of Energy and Environmental 
5Affairs for the Commonwealth’s commercial fishing and shellfish industry. The Secretary shall 
6annually evaluate the status of the commercial fishing industry and it shall be accompanied by 
7recommendations for appropriate actions to be taken to maintain and revitalize the commercial 
8fishing, shellfish and seafood industry. 2 of 2
9 In order to carry out the provisions of this chapter the secretaries may, and are 
10encouraged to seek the laboratory, technical, educational, and research skills and facilities of 
11state institutions of higher learning.
