Arena-DeRosa (by vote of the town) that the town of Holliston be authorized to convert one license for the sale of wine and malt beverages not to be drunk on the premises to a license for the sale of all alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises in said town. [Local Approval Received.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act authorizing the town of Holliston to convert a certain liquor license. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, the 2licensing authority of the town of Holliston may convert 1 license for the sale of wine and malt 3beverages not to be drunk on the premises pursuant to section 15 of said chapter 138 issued to 4Central Café & Convenience at 92 - 94 Central street in the town of Holliston to a license for the 5sale of all alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises pursuant to said section 15 of said 6chapter 138 to Central Café & Convenience at 92 - 94 Central street in the town of Holliston. 7The license shall be subject to all of said chapter 138 except said section 17. 8 (b) The licensing authority shall not approve the transfer of the license converted under 9subsection (a) to any other location but it may grant the license to a new applicant at the same 10location if the applicant files with the licensing authority a letter from the department of revenue 11and a letter from the department of unemployment assistance indicating that the license is in 2 of 2 12good standing with those departments and that all applicable taxes, fees and contributions have 13been paid. 14 (c) If the license converted under this section is cancelled, revoked or no longer in use at 15the location of original issuance, it shall be returned physically, with all of the legal rights, 16privileges and restrictions pertaining thereto, to the licensing authority and the licensing 17authority may then grant the license to a new applicant at the same location and under the same 18conditions as specified in this act. 19 (d) A license converted under this act shall be converted within 1 year after the effective 20date of this act; provided, however, that a license originally converted within that time period 21may be granted to a new applicant under subsection (b) or (c) any time thereafter. 22 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
