2626 An Act to expand access to computer science coursework.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 71 of the General Laws is amended by inserting after section 99 the
3030 2following section:-
3131 3 Section 100. Computer Science Education
3232 4 (a) Every public high school in the commonwealth shall offer at least one foundational
3333 5computer science course and ensure that every student has the capacity to access such course
3434 6within a four-year course of study.
3535 7 (b) A foundational computer science course offered pursuant to this section shall include
3636 8rigorous mathematical or scientific concepts and be consistent with standards adopted by the
3737 9board of elementary and secondary education.
3838 10 SECTION 2. Section 1 shall take effect for the school year beginning after July 1, 2025.
