20	20	An Act to rename the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, MassAbility, to reflect the self-
21	21	determination and limitless possibilities of people with disabilities.
22	22	Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to
23	23	promote equity and increase opportunities for persons with disabilities by renaming the
24	24	commission and updating language used to more accurately reflect the values and core mission
25	25	of the agency, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the
26	26	immediate preservation of the public convenience.
27	27	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
28	28	of the same, as follows:
29	29	1 SECTION 1. Section 17 of chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022
30	30	2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 13, the words “the Massachusetts
31	31	3rehabilitation commission” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- MassAbility.
32	32	4 SECTION 2. Section 74 of said chapter 6, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking
33	33	5out, in line 1, the words “the rehabilitation of”.
34	34	6 SECTION 3. Said section 74 of said chapter 6, as so appearing, is hereby further
35	35	7amended by striking out, in lines 2, 6 and 9, the words “handicapped persons” and inserting in
