2828 An Act authorizing extending local voting rights for lawful permanent residents residing in the
2929 town of Wendell.
3030 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
3131 of the same, as follows:
3232 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 1 of chapter 51 of the General Laws or any other
3333 2general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, any lawful permanent resident, who is
3434 318 years or older and resides in the town of Wendell, may, upon application, have their name
3535 4entered on a list of registered voters established by the town clerk for the town of Wendell. Such
3636 5lawful permanent residents may thereafter vote in any town meeting, town election and actions
3737 6of the town of Wendell and may serve on elected municipal boards and committees of the town
3838 7of Wendell.
3939 8 SECTION 2. The select board of the town of Wendell may formulate regulations and
4040 9guidelines to implement the purpose of this act.
4141 10 SECTION 3. Nothing in this act shall be construed to confer upon lawful permanent
4242 11residents the right to vote for any state or federal office or any state or federal ballot question. 2 of 2
4343 12 SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
