| 28 | 28 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 30 | 30 | | 1 Section 1. Chapter 571 of the Acts of 1956 (The Andover Town Charter) as subsequently |

| 31 | 31 | | 2amended, is hereby amended as follows: |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 3 First, by deleting the entirety of Section 3(d) and replacing it with the following: |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 4 “The town manager shall appoint, subject to the approval of the select board, upon merit |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 5and fitness alone, and may, subject to the provisions of chapter 31 of the General Laws where |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 6applicable, remove for cause the positions of Deputy Town Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 7Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer, Town Clerk and Town Counsel, a board of public |

| 37 | 37 | | 8health, a planning board, a board of assessors, a board of library trustees, and all other officers, |

| 38 | 38 | | 9boards, committees of the town, with the exception of the elected officials specified in section |
