2727 An Act regarding the appointment of officials and employees of the town of Andover.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Section 1. Chapter 571 of the Acts of 1956 (The Andover Town Charter) as subsequently
3131 2amended, is hereby amended as follows:
3232 3 First, by deleting the entirety of Section 3(d) and replacing it with the following:
3333 4 “The town manager shall appoint, subject to the approval of the select board, upon merit
3434 5and fitness alone, and may, subject to the provisions of chapter 31 of the General Laws where
3535 6applicable, remove for cause the positions of Deputy Town Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief,
3636 7Finance Director/Chief Financial Officer, Town Clerk and Town Counsel, a board of public
3737 8health, a planning board, a board of assessors, a board of library trustees, and all other officers,
3838 9boards, committees of the town, with the exception of the elected officials specified in section
3939 10two, and employees of such elected officials.”
4040 11 Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its passage.
