2323 An Act authorizing the city of Salem to convert the annual license for the sale of wine and malt
2424 beverages to be drunk on the premises pursuant to chapter 75 of the acts of 2008 to an annual
2525 license for the sale of all alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises.
2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2727 of the same, as follows:
2828 1 SECTION 1. Chapter 75 of the Acts of 2008 is hereby amended by striking out the words
2929 2“wines and malt”, and inserting in place thereof the following:- all alcoholic .
3030 3 SECTION 2. (a) The city of Salem may charge a fee for the conversion of the license
3131 4authorized and described in section 1 which shall be paid by the current licensee at the time of
3232 5enactment unless the licensing authority agrees to enter into a contract with the licensee to allow
3333 6the division of the fee into multiple payments over time from the licensee. If the city elects to
3434 7accept multiple payments over time from the licensee, the option shall be made available, upon
3535 8request, to all qualified applicants for a license.
3636 9 (b) Any fee collected by the city of Salem for the license converted pursuant to section 1
3737 10which is greater than the amount of the fee charged for an annual renewal of a similar license
3838 11issued by the city shall be deposited into the city’s economic development account and expended
3939 12by it in a manner consistent with the purpose of such account. 2 of 2
4040 13 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
