| 20 | 20 | | Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purposes, which are |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to authorize certain retirement benefits, therefore it is immediately necessary to carry out the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | important public purposes, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the immediate preservation of the public convenience. |

| 24 | 24 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |

| 25 | 25 | | of the same, as follows: |

| 26 | 26 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 65C and 65D of chapter 32 of the General Laws, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 2or any other general or special law to the contrary, Mary McCabe, associate justice of the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 3Haverhill district court, may name her daughter Anna McCabe as her survivor beneficiary, in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 4lieu of a spouse. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 5 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of October 29, 2023. |
