Environment and Natural Resources. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to fluoridation. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Strike the “by local boards; advice of commissioner; election; discontinuance” in the title 2of Chapter 111 Section 8C 3 Add “ban on community water fluoridation schemes” to the title, so that it reads as 4follows: 5 Fluoridation of public water supplies; ban on community water fluoridation schemes 6 7 Replace text of existing law (Chapter 111, Section 8C) with the following text: 8 9 Based on the robust body of science documenting ill effects from even low-dose fluoride 10exposure for a significant portion of the population including pregnant women, bottle-fed babies, 2 of 2 11young children, the elderly and many in fragile health; conflicting federal regulations regarding 12the use of fluoridation chemicals; the questionable ethics of medicating a portion of the 13population against their will including those with medical reason to avoid fluoride; and concerns 14about the biomagnification of fluoridation chemicals and tramp contaminants in our 15environment, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts bans the addition of any fluoride water 16products to any and all public water supplies. Existing artificial fluoridation schemes targeting 17municipal water supplies must be discontinued within ten (10) days of the ratification of this law. 18 19 As those who do not believe the natural fluoride concentration in drinking water supplies 20or topical use of fluoridated dental products are sufficient for their needs are free to purchase 21fluoridated water for personal use, this law protects the individual civil rights of all residents.
