32 | 32 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
33 | 33 | | of the same, as follows: |
---|
34 | 34 | | 1 SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law or rule to the |
---|
35 | 35 | | 2contrary, the City of Attleboro shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws concerning |
---|
36 | 36 | | 3the recruiting and hiring for the position of permanent full-time police officer; furthermore, |
---|
37 | 37 | | 4following (1) an original appointment as a permanent full-time police officer and graduation |
---|
38 | 38 | | 5from a police academy, or (2) a permanent full-time position transfer from another police |
---|
39 | 39 | | 6department, said police officer shall engage in the actual performance of the duties of such |
---|
40 | 40 | | 7position for a probationary period of twelve (12) months; whereupon after completion of the |
---|
41 | 41 | | 8probationary period, or extended probationary period, the police officer shall be considered a |
---|
42 | 42 | | 9full-time tenured civil service employee in said position under chapter 31 of the General Laws. 2 of 2 |

43 | 43 | | 10 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. |
