29 | 29 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority |
---|
30 | 30 | | of the same, as follows: |

31 | 31 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 31 of chapter 10 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 |
---|
32 | 32 | | 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 3, after the words “any member or |
---|
33 | 33 | | 3employee of the commission" the following words:- except as authorized by the director for |
---|
34 | 34 | | 4investigative purposes, |
---|
35 | 35 | | 5 SECTION 2. Section 27A of chapter 10 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby |
---|
36 | 36 | | 6amended by striking out, in lines 31 through 33, the words “in a newspaper of general circulation |
---|
37 | 37 | | 7in the area including the municipality where said Keno licensee will operate” and inserting in |
---|
38 | 38 | | 8place thereof the following words:- on the commission’s website |

39 | 39 | | 9 SECTION 3. Section 26 of chapter 10 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby |

40 | 40 | | 10amended by striking out the words “, provided, however that no person shall be assigned more |

42 | 42 | | 12 SECTION 4. Section 27 of said chapter 10, as so appearing, is hereby amended by |

43 | 43 | | 13striking out the sentence “No federal employee and no state, county or municipal employee, or |

44 | 44 | | 14member of the immediate family, as defined in section one of chapter two hundred sixty-eight A, |
---|
45 | 45 | | 15shall sell or be issued a license to sell lottery tickets.” and inserting in place thereof the following |

46 | 46 | | 16sentence:- No member or employee of the commission or any person residing in the same |
---|
47 | 47 | | 17household in the principal place of abode of any member or employee of the commission, or |
---|
48 | 48 | | 18legal entity that includes such a person as an officer, director, member, partner, owner, investor |
---|
49 | 49 | | 19or an individual that has a financial interest in the entity unless said interest is in a publicly |
---|
50 | 50 | | 20traded company by ownership of shares of less than ten percent of all issued stock, shall be |
---|
51 | 51 | | 21issued a license to sell lottery tickets. |

52 | 52 | | 22 SECTION 5. Section 26 of chapter 10 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby |

53 | 53 | | 23amended by striking the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The |

54 | 54 | | 24state treasurer shall, subject to the approval of the governor, appoint a director of the state |
---|
55 | 55 | | 25lottery, hereinafter called the director, who shall serve at the pleasure of the state treasurer, shall |
---|
56 | 56 | | 26devote his entire time and attention to the duties of his office and to such official duties specified |
---|
57 | 57 | | 27by the state treasurer, and shall receive such salary as the commission may determine. |
