2727 An Act relative to the alignment of the University of Massachusetts police.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. Paragraph (g) of subdivision (2) of section 3 of chapter 32 of the General
3131 2Law, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 253
3232 3and 254, the words:- ; University of Massachusetts police.
3333 4 SECTION 2. Said paragraph (g) of said subsection (2) of said section 3 of chapter 32, as
3434 5so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding after the word “agent”, in line 328, the
3535 6following words:- ; police officers of the University of Massachusetts system.
3636 7 SECTION 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 32 of the General Laws, or any
3737 8other general or special law to the contrary, the state board of retirement shall establish and
3838 9implement a retirement incentive for University of Massachusetts police who held positions
3939 10appointed under section 32A of chapter 75 immediately prior to the effective date of this act. 2 of 2
4040 11Each eligible member of the University of Massachusetts police may request and shall receive a
4141 12combination of total years of creditable service and years of age, the sum of which shall total, yet
4242 13not be greater than, five years of creditable service and five years of age, provided said police
4343 14officer shall retire within twelve months of the date of enactment of this section.
