2727 An Act granting property tax relief to seniors.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 59 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014
3131 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new section:-
3232 3 Fifty-ninth. Upon the acceptance of this section by a city or town, the board of assessors
3333 4may grant real and personal property tax abatement up to 100 per cent of the total tax assessed to
3434 5a resident who has attained the age of 75, subject to eligibility criteria to be established by the
3535 6board of assessors.
