2727 An Act to protect the privacy of lottery winners.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Section 24 of Chapter 10 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3131 2is hereby amended by inserting at the end of the first paragraph the following:-
3232 3 “Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the name, address or other
3333 4identifying information of any holder of a winning lottery ticket shall not be deemed public
3434 5records of the commission and shall not be subject to section 10 of chapter 66. The commission
3535 6shall not publicly disclose the name, address, or other identifying information of any holder of a
3636 7winning ticket or require any winning ticket holder to perform any public act in connection with
3737 8the awarding, payment, or collection of prize moneys where a holder of a winning ticket
3838 9provides a written request to the commission. Upon a claim, the commission shall inform, in
3939 10writing, the winning ticket holder of the right to refuse public disclosure of name, address, or
4040 11other identifying information as well as the right to refuse to perform any public act in
4141 12connection with the awarding, payment, or collection of prize moneys.".
