2626 An Act to improve transportation oversight.
2727 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2828 of the same, as follows:
2929 1 SECTION 1. Section 6 of chapter 11 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020
3030 2Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the word “five” and inserting in place thereof
3131 3the following word:- “six”.
3232 4 SECTION 2. Said section 6 of said chapter 11 is hereby amended by striking out the
3333 5words “and the division of local mandates” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-
3434 6“, the division of local mandates and the division of transportation reviews”.
3535 7 SECTION 3. Chapter 161A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by
3636 8striking out Section 23 thereof in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
3737 9 Section 23: Audit; report
3838 10 Section 23. The state auditor shall make an audit of the authority, once every 2 years and
3939 11as often as the state auditor determines is necessary, and make a report thereon to the directors, 2 of 2
4040 12the governor and the general court. In making such audits, said auditor may call upon any of the
4141 13departments, commissions, officers and agencies of the commonwealth for such information as
4242 14may be needed in the course of making such audits. The state auditor may employ such auditors,
4343 15accountants and other assistants as said auditor deems necessary for carrying out said duties, and
4444 16chapter 31 and the rules made thereunder shall not apply to such employees. The commonwealth
4545 17shall be reimbursed by the authority for the cost of the audit.
