[SIMILAR MATTER FILED IN PREVIOUS SESSION SEE SENATE, NO. 2301 OF 2021-2022.] The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the One Hundred and Ninety-Third General Court (2023-2024) _______________ An Act relative to an arts license plate. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1 Section 2E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, 2is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (d) the following subsection:- 3 (e) The registrar shall furnish, upon application, to the owners of private passenger motor 4vehicles distinctive registration plates which shall display on the face a design indicating support 5for the arts. Such a design shall be selected through a contest to be judged by the Massachusetts 6Cultural Council or their designees. There shall be a fee of not less than $50 dollars for such 7plates in addition to the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles, which 8shall be payable at the time of registration of the vehicle and at each renewal thereof. The portion 9of the total fee remaining after the deduction of costs directly attributable to the issuance of such 2 of 2 10plates shall be transferred within ninety days of receipt thereof to the Massachusetts Cultural 11Council.
