2727 An Act relative to an arts license plate.
2828 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority
2929 of the same, as follows:
3030 1 Section 2E of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition,
3131 2is hereby amended by inserting after subsection (d) the following subsection:-
3232 3 (e) The registrar shall furnish, upon application, to the owners of private passenger motor
3333 4vehicles distinctive registration plates which shall display on the face a design indicating support
3434 5for the arts. Such a design shall be selected through a contest to be judged by the Massachusetts
3535 6Cultural Council or their designees. There shall be a fee of not less than $50 dollars for such
3636 7plates in addition to the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles, which
3737 8shall be payable at the time of registration of the vehicle and at each renewal thereof. The portion
3838 9of the total fee remaining after the deduction of costs directly attributable to the issuance of such 2 of 2
3939 10plates shall be transferred within ninety days of receipt thereof to the Massachusetts Cultural
4040 11Council.
