34	34	Resolutions memorializing the Massachusetts Delegation, and the United States Congress, on the
35	35	need for official, and general support of a Federal ERA, suitably amending The Constitution of
36	36	The United States, and encouraging public education regarding this subject matter.
37	37	1 the Great and General Court of Massachusetts, hereby Resolves that we officially
38	38	2support, and generally support, the adoption of a Federal Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to
39	39	3The United States Constitution.
40	40	4 Since the formal adoption of the Equal Rights Amendment to the Massachusetts
41	41	5Constitution, in 1976, general public opinion, and legal circumstance(s), have generally found
42	42	6that this was a good expansion of full rights, to an expanded portion of the population, of our
43	43	7Commonwealth.
44	44	8 It is in the interests of respecting a widened sweep of rights for our population, and
45	45	9particularly across the states of The United States, keeping peaceful, social, and legal freedoms, 2 of 2
46	46	10and expanding those freedoms, and their appropriate legal evolution, that The United States
47	47	11Constitution should include such rights, in specific language. Massachusetts wishes to go on
48	48	12record, as supporting such efforts.
49	49	13 Massachusetts as a leader, in The United States; and The United States as a leader in the
50	50	14World, would benefit, by both strong support, and significant public education, on the values,
51	51	15and benefits of this Federal Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
52	52	16 This legislation authorizes, significant, and sufficient notification of Congressional, and
53	53	17other Federal authorities, and others; and such appropriate public education, and publicity, as is
54	54	18appropriate; such needed authority, residing in the Office of the Secretary of State, of The
55	55	19Commonwealth.
